Google can't fix it because they are an American company. Any name Trump chooses for Canada becomes what we see when we use maps provided by Google. That is everyone in Canada. And herein lies the problem with American companies controlling our data.
Trump can disrupt all all of Canada by putting in hundreds of names changes in Canada and Google will comply. Many government departments in provincial and federal government are being hammered today because it is now Lake America. It is embarrassing and infuriating for many in Canada..
It exposes a vulnerability that reveals Trump can cripple our online mapping system and Google will be a willing agent. Can there be any doubt he is howling with laughter about this?
The federal and provincial governments might mitigate this by fining Google $1 million every day they allow this to happen. If their mapping system is so easily effed up by presidential decrees, it is an instrument of terrorism on the rest of the world.
As a matter of national security, Canada needs to take over mapping and Google's error has to be the motivation for this and other data being brought home. And it isn't just Google who can have Trump play in their data to cause world chaos. We have to separate ourselves from their systems lest this happen over and over again.
